Axis Glossary
Every MyPeeps team is built from four binary axes. Each axis has two poles, for 16 in total. Here is what each one actually means, in plain language, with the real research behind it.
A personality "axis" is a spectrum between two opposing tendencies, such as discipline versus passion, or intensity versus adaptability. You lean toward one pole or the other, and the combination of your four leanings places you on a team. None of these poles is better than its opposite. They are different strengths, and most people carry a bit of both.
The Philosophy lens (Mind) describes how you think, create, and work. The EQ lens (Heart) describes how you feel, connect, and regulate. Each pole below maps to a well-validated dimension in personality science, which you can read about in full on our methodology page.
How you think, create, and work
A Stoic is motivated by duty, discipline, and steady self-control rather than by mood or momentary desire.
An Epicurean is driven by passion, meaning, and lived experience, leaning into the present rather than postponing it.
An Empiricist trusts what can be observed and tested, learning by doing rather than reasoning from first principles.
A Rationalist reasons from principles and internal logic, trusting a sound argument before waiting for the data.
A Promethean is an innovator who seeks to do things differently, drawn to inventing the new over refining the old.
A Sisyphean is an adapter who masters and perfects what already exists, finding mastery in depth and repetition.
A Solitary thinker recharges and does their best work in introspection and deep, uninterrupted focus.
An Agora thinker thinks out loud and sharpens ideas through conversation, collaboration, and the crowd.
How you feel, connect, and regulate
A Torch expresses emotion outward as action, warmth, and influence, lighting the way for others.
A Mirror processes emotion inward, reflecting deeply and reading the unspoken feelings of a room.
A Roots type anchors in loyalty, belonging, and depth, drawing strength from the people and places that shaped them.
A Wings type is drawn toward exploration, change, and transcendence, growing by reaching past the familiar.
A Fire type feels and acts with intensity, meeting emotions head on with conviction and directness.
A Water type regulates emotion through adaptability and reappraisal, flowing around obstacles rather than through them.
A Compass type integrates the world through singular focused conviction, narrowing toward one clear true north.
A Kaleidoscope type integrates the world through holistic synthesis, holding many perspectives at once.
